Dr. Beth Valentine, DVM is known at Rural Heritage. Dr. Beth is a research veterinarian studying muscle disorders in the draft horse. Especially with regard to Equine Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy (EPSM), Dr. Beth recommends a diet low in grains, starches, and sugars, with added fats, selenium, and Vitamin E, exercise and plenty of fresh water.The New England Journal of Large Animal Health published an article on EPSM in the October 2001 issue. The Manitoba Horse Finder was organized in October 2003 to help with PMU herd dispersals following cutbacks in PMU collection contracts by the companies involved. Visitors to the Draft Resource Chat board wanted to know how to help, or to provide a home for the hundreds of horses produced annually by PMU ranches. MB Horse Finder has a database of cost-assisted hauling destinations in the US and Canada.
